OVERVIEW
In order to perform the FEES procedure, proper training from experienced clinicians is needed.  The Langmore FEES Course is an unparalleled introductory course developed by Dr. Susan Langmore, the creator of the FEES procedure, and taught by her team of expert clinician faculty who have been mentored by Dr. Langmore for nearly 2 decades.  This introductory course is aimed at clinicians who have little or no experience with FEES, and who want to incorporate this tool into their practice.

This fully remote foundation (introductory) FEES Course is taught by Langmore FEES faculty Ann Kearney, CScD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S. The course includes a comprehensive review of FEES, indications for FEES vs. MBS, risks/safety, normal and abnormal swallowing visualized endoscopically, the Langmore FEES protocol, optimal scope technique, using FEES for treatment and biofeedback, and of course lots and lots of practice scoring FEES exams with the Langmore protocol using recorded exams from patients with different medical etiologies in various clinical settings. Attendees are encouraged to have access to local mentors who can facilitate hands on endoscopy training after completion of this course. A detailed course agenda can be found in the above pdf file. All participants will receive electronic copies of the course slides with supplemental materials approximately one week prior to the start of the course.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Participants will attain a basic level of competence in performing the Langmore FEES protocol, interpreting the results of FEES exams, and using endoscopy to guide therapy for patients with dysphagia.  The course will enable participants to be conceptually familiar with best practices regarding handling the endoscope, passing it into the hypopharynx, and manipulating the scope within and around the larynx to attain an optimal view. Those who are already performing FEES will advance their level of competence with practice scoring FEES exams using the Langmore protocol, and will appreciate how FEES can be applied to various patient populations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
