FEES Mentors
It is important to understand not only how to physically perform a FEES exam, but also how to interpret it. The latter takes the longest to master, and really requires proper mentorship. It is not uncommon for SLPs to receive introductory FEES training through a Foundation FEES Course, but then have difficulty finding an experienced endoscopist who is proficient enough with FEES to mentor them and who has the extra time to do so. This is especially true of SLPs who are starting up a FEES program at their institution.
To help facilitate pairing new-to-FEES SLPs with experienced FEES users who are willing to provide mentorship, we have compiled a list of clinicians on this page who use FEES and who have self-identified as being both competent and as having some degree of availability to mentor other SLPs. Please note that we have NOT vetted this list, so we CAN NOT confirm the quality or competence of any SLP listed here. The only exception are the SLPs who we have personally worked with, and those people have an asterik next to their name.
If you would like mentorship, you can contact any SLP on this list, although someone relatively local may be your best option. We have no affiliation with any of these SLPs as it relates to mentoring, so any and all details of the mentoring process will have to be worked out between you and the mentor. We hope that you find this list helpful in gaining the experience needed to perform FEES independently and confidently.
