Overview:
This program is geared toward clinicians who are FEES competent who want to sharpen their scoring and interpretation of FEES exams. A review of technical scoping techniques to achieve optimal view will be covered, and updates in research, protocols, and scoring will be reviewed. A new model that incorporates scoring and interpretation will be introduced, leading to specific treatment recommendations. Participants will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills by scoring/interpreting recorded FEES exams with Dr. Langmore. Case studies will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own difficult to score/interpret FEES exams for a more personalized group experienced.
Instructor:
Dr. Langmore is world renown for developing FEES in 1988 and for her work as a clinician, professor, and researcher. She is currently a clinical professor of speech language pathology at Boston University Sargent College and a professor of medicine in the department of otolaryngology at Boston University Medical Center. Dr. Langmore is engaged in NIH and PCORI funded clinical research, lectures nationally and internationally on dysphagia and FEES, and is the incoming president of the dysphagia research society.
