Overview:
This training will provide clinicians with a basic level of competence with handling the endoscope, passing it into the hypopharynx, manipulating the scope within and around the larynx to attain an optimal view, and to apply aspects of the Langmore FEES protocol to procedure. The course will entail an overview and demonstration of how to use the endoscopy equipment, followed by mentored hands-on practice performing the FEES procedure on each other in a small group setting. Additional training in FEES scoring will also be provided. The course will be limited to 12 participants.
ASHA CEUs:
0.75 ASHA CEUs are provided to course participants. These CEUs are at the intermediate level, professional area.

Parking:
There is free residential parking on the weekend in the neighborhood north of Reservoir Rd. Look for green “Zone 2” signs. A map with highlighted areas you can park is attached. It is approximately a 5 minute walk from residential parking to the hospital. Alternatively, parking is available in the Leavey Center Garage for $25 (pictured in campus map). It is approximately a 5 minute walk from the Leavey Center Garage to the course.
Directions From Parking to Course Room:
If parking in residential parking, enter the hospital at the Main entrance, accessible via entrance 2. You will enter on the 1st floor. Take the orange elevators down to the ground floor. Exit the elevators and walk toward the Bles building. Take a left and you will see the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department entrance on your left.
If parking in Leavey Center Garage, enter the hospital via the Lombardi Cancer Center and use the map to get to the ground floor of the Bles building.
COVID-19 Precautions:
All participants must have evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination, defined as 3 doses of Modern and/or Pfizer vaccine. Documentation of such vaccination must be emailed to Angela Baker ([email protected]) prior to the course start date. All participants must also have a negative COVID-19 test prior to attendance. Acceptable tests include a negative PCR within 3 days of the course or a negative antigen on the morning of the course. Documentation of the negative COVID-19 test must also be presented to Angela Baker. Any participants who are not eligible to attend the course due to a positive COVID-19 test will be issued a full refund. N95 masks will be required at the course. They will be available at the course, but participants can bring their own clean and properly fitted N95 if desired.
